Capture a moment in time

Those who know me, know that I have a love for photography. In my home I have old family photos and pictures that I have taken over the years, proudly on display. I also have a small collection of antique cameras.

One of those (from 1940’s) still has film in it from it’s original owner. I’d love to have the film developed. To see that moment captured in time by the photographer. Is it old army photos? Family portraits? Young kids taking pictures with their new camera? The possibilities are endless.

I guess my love of photography came from my aunt, Teresa Covey. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her go anywhere without one of her many cameras at hand. I’d say she has a collection of thousands of pictures she has taken over the years. Can you imagine!

She was always right there to catch that moment in your life. Whether it be all dressed up for the prom, or a butterfly on a blossoming flower.

As I got older, she began letting me take pictures with her. Learning the equipment, how to focus in on the subject. Now look at me!

I’ve taken portraits of families and friends, pictures of animals, seasonal photos, barns, fields, people at random moments in their life. My favorite subject now would have to be my nephew, William, a soon to be two year old and the energy to go along with it.

I drove up to my sisters house the other day and was able to take pictures of him helping his Papaw feed Sunshine (she’s the family horse).

What a sight! There he was carrying two ears of yellow corn held close against his tiny little overalls. I just had to have a picture, and I took more than one! These pictures aren’t just physical things you can hold in your hand or display on your wall. They are moments of your life captured in the blink of an eye.

There is a quote that suits me the best, “Life is like photography... we use the negatives to develop.” - Anonymous
